Our mission

Our mission is to advance knowledge of environmental exposures, their biological effects and their contribution to disease, while translating scientific evidence into practical action for healthier communities.

Why Exposome Africa?

Africa is experiencing changing patterns of chronic disease. Genes alone cannot explain how quickly these patterns are changing. Exposome Africa connects expertise across disciplines to better understand environmental contributors to health across the continent.

Research, education, collaboration and impact

We support research into environmental exposures and health; translate scientific concepts into accessible information; connect professionals across sectors; and help scientific evidence inform decision-making.

Our structure

Exposome Africa is the continental umbrella organisation. Country-specific networks operate under the Environmental Contributors to Health Outcomes (ECHO) framework. ECHO_GH focuses on Ghana, with further national networks envisaged as the network grows.
